The Department of Health Services (DHS) has already issued a directive to its regional and the district public health offices asking them not to grant leave to any health worker.[break]
“To ward off possible epidemic outbreak, we have issued a directive to all our offices to not to grant leave to health workers,” said senior health administrator of DHS Dr Bishwaraj Khanal.
Dr Khanal said the DHS has also directed its offices to inform if health posts are without medical staff. “We have also directed our offices to call workers who are on leave to join service immediately,” he added.
The DHS has also made all necessary preparations to help control the possible outbreak. “We have also directed our regional and district offices to make necessary preparations for the possible outbreak of the disease,” Dr Khanal added. The DHS said it has also sent a consignment of medicines to its regional offices.
Outbreak of cholera, diarrhea, influenza and other communicable diseases claim hundred of lives across the country every year during monsoon. The DHS has also called its regional health chief in the capital to prepare an action plan for immediate response to the possible outbreak.
