On Fridays, I usually make plans by morning or let my friends take the lead and just go with the flow, whether it’s a private party at a friend’s place or a get-together at Thamel or Jhamel, Fridays always is a welcome change from the usual routines. And then there’s no better feeling than walking out of your workplace and catching up with your friends. [break]
Usually a ride to Thamel and I’m all geared up to experience the only night life of the week.
6:00 PM: Grab a quick snack
We usually don’t plan a venue and while strolling on the streets, we just head to any random eatery. Walking the streets of Thamel is always a challenge, as we battle our way to make it to our first destination. We usually end up at vibrant Mandala Street, to grab a chicken wrap.
7:30 PM: The crave for coffee and dessert
After eating, we make that lazy stroll towards Illy for that much needed cup of coffee. With coffee and the conversation rolling, the start of a Friday night couldn’t get any better. Moments later the temptation of having a mouth watering chocolate cake leads us right to Helena’s, which is just irresistible.
8:30 PM: Time for some gigs
With food, caffeine and sugar in our body it’s time for some good music. We usually head towards Reggae Bar or Shisha to listen to some of the talented bands in town show off their musical skills.
9:30 PM: Dinner time
We usually head towards La dolce Vita. No one comes here and leaves without eating the delectable pizzas, so we just devour on the scrumptious ones found there. Sometimes we even make random plans to go to Jhamel (Chai Chai) café for fine dinner. But always have that enthusiasm to come back to Thamel once we are done eating.
11:00 PM: A comeback to Thamel
As time flies, we can see the streets gathering up more local crowd dressed up in their Friday’s finest. We usually end up going back to House of Music for more live music. With good music and familiar faces around, the place definitely seems like the right place to be.
Depending on my mood I might just call it a day and head home or if I still have some of that Friday energy, my friends and I end up at the nearest club to dance the night away.
