Sri Lankan Embassy celebrates National Day

KATHMANDU, Feb 4: Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu celebrated Sri Lanka´s 63rd National Day by organizing various functions on Friday.



According to a press statement issued by Sri Lankan Embassy in Kathmandu, the embassy held two separate functions including religious observances by Buddhist, Hindu, Christians and Islamic faiths to celebrate the events. [break]



An alms giving was organized at the chancery for nearly 15 religious leaders who were present to observe the religious ceremony.



The celebrations began with the hoisting of the national flag by Sri Lankan Ambassador to Nepal Thosapala Hewage and singing the national anthem.



Two minutes silence was also observed in honor of all the national heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country on the occasion.



A dinner reception was organized for prominent political leaders, diplomats and others in the evening.
