“Yes I´m back at NPC,” Shrestha told Republica after the meeting. He clarified that there had been no talks about perks. He said that meeting focused on modernizing the club like other professional clubs.
“There is a lot to be done to make the club more efficient,” he said. He had taken charge of the club about four years ago. The club won the title of the country´s prestigious domestic league twice under his leadership. NPC has lost only one match after he took charge of the club. NPC was defeated by Boys Union Club during the first year of his term.
AIG Gautam said confirmed that Shrestha has given his words to return to the club. “He (Shrestha) has assured us that he will do all he can to make the club more competent,” said Gautam.
Tamang lifts women´s singles title
Nangshal Devi Tamang of Nepal APF Club won the title of women´s singles in the Madan Bhandari Memorial Badminton Tournament on Friday. Tamang defeated her club-mate Samjhana Khaling in a competitive final match played at the Nepal Police Club (NPC), Kathmandu, on Friday. Tamang won the match 21-17, 11-21 and 21-15. Meanwhile, NPC´s Bikash Shrestha set a final clash against Sajan Krishna Tamrakar of APF Club in men´s singles category. Shrestha thrashed APF personnel Indra Mahata 17-21, 21-8, 21-9 in the semifinal while Tamrakar struggled past Ratnajeet Tamang 18-21, 21-12, 21-19. Likewise, APF duo Mahata and Tamang fixed the final date with Ram Rai and Bimal Shrestha of Lalitpur in the men´s doubles category while pairs of Ramesh Kharel and Min Bahadur KC as well as Surendra Bahadur Singh and Hemanta Pal entered the final of veterans´ doubles.
