Tainted CDO transfered

SIRAHA, Dec 24: Chief District Officer (CDO) of Siraha Birendra Kumar Yadav, who was dragged into controversy after three persons arrested on the charge of illegally possessing arms and ammunition accused him of taking bribe to free them, has been transferred to the Eastern Regional Administration Office in Dhankuta.



Similarly, Bijuli Chaudhari, who was at the law-suit section of the CDO office, and Kul Bahadur Mijar, the jailer of Siraha jail, too, have been transferred to Division Roads Office and Area Administration Office in Lahan, respectively, on the same charge. [break]They have also been served letters of admonition.



Earlier, on November 23, Kishor Yadav, Ram Sundar Pandit and Kameshwar Mahato, who were in judicial custody for illegally possessing arms and ammunition, had told a press meet that CDO Yadav was bribed to free them. They said they sent Rs 100,000 to CDO Yadav through Mahato and Mijar.



After Republica published the news, Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) formed a committee headed by joint secretary Lav Dev Shrestha to probe the allegations. The probe committee had submitted its report to the MoHA, following which CDO Yadav, along with Mahato and Mijar, were transferred.
