Moktan pulled off a quarterfinal victory over Amit Bahadur Chand of Bank of Kathmandu in the match played at the Corner Bar of Radission Hotel, Kathmandu. [break]Chand gave a tough competition to Moktan in the match of best of five frames. However, Moktan won the match at the score line of 69-52, 32-81, 57-48, 40-62, 73-53.
Sainju defeated Sunny Khadka of Mega Bank in four frames. Despite Khadka´s tough challenge in the second frame with the highest break of the day 54, Sainju won the match in four frames. He won the match with the scores of 53-23, 27-103, 104-24, 62-23.
Sainju and Moktan will lock their horns in the semifinal on Thursday.
Earlier, Amit More of Lucky Group, Samraj Gurung of Samraj Spaces and Housing Pvt Ltd and Kabir Jung Thapa of Hotel Radisson booked their berths for the quarterfinal round.
More defeated Bibash Thapa of Buddha Air in straight frames 82-35, 61-27.
Ummeed Shrestha of Kumari Bank gave tough fight to Gurung in the match of round of 16 but Gurung maintained his cool to win the match 65-56, 22-67, 65-26.
Likewise, Thapa beat Rajkamal Basnet of Standard Chartered Bank 80-29, 46-51, 46-53.
Thapa will take on Gurung in the quarterfinal while More will meet Raywant Bahadur Singh of Himalayan Bank in the quarterfinal clash on Thursday.
The six-day event is being organized by Nepal Republic Media in association with Hotel Radisson. Billiards Snooker & Pool Association of Nepal (BSPAN) and Photo Concern are supporting the event while Image Channel and Friday magazine are the media partners.
