KATHMANDU, Sept 28: A total of 23 people have been killed in three districts of the Kathmandu Valley as a result of flood triggered by the continuous rainfall since Friday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Binod Ghimire of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, nine persons each were killed in Kathmandu and Lalitpur and five others were killed in Bhaktapur as a result of the flood.

SSP Ghimire said that there are eight injured in Kathmandu, three in Lalitpur and one in Bhaktapur. A total of six people are missing across the three districts in the Valley. Police reported that 226 houses have been submerged in Kathmandu and a rescue team of 3,060 members has been deployed under the leadership of an SSP from the Nepal Police.
Most areas in Lalitpur have also been inundated. Four people went missing on Saturday morning due to delays in the rescue operation in the Nakkhu area. However, three of them have been rescued by the police and locals together. A team from the Armed Police Force has also been deployed for disaster rescue and management.
