Comprising members from various origins – India, Nepal, and France, to be exact, Drift!! has been an admired band in the midst of Delhi’s jazz lovers.[break]
Led by drummer Ruben Narain, with saxophonist Nicolas Giordani, bassist Sahil Warsi, and Pranai Gurung on guitar, the band has performed in over two hundred concerts in and around Delhi.
Though the band is mostly based on jazz and blues, they also have improvisational views combining world music and funk to their music as well to add a different flavor.
Pranai Gurung, who recorded the album “Trips to Kathmandu” with J-hoLa here in Kathmandu in 2002, hopes that the scene has boomed since then.

“I performed at the Kathmandu Jazz Festival 2003, and since then I haven’t been able go back there. But let’s see what happens. I hope it’s nice,” he expresses.
Further, he points out that they don’t have a clue about what to expect from the crowd. “Maybe it’s going to be small or big, I can’t be sure,” he states. “But we hope an ‘ok’ crowd will turn up for the show.”
“I’ve been informed that the scene has vastly improved there, even better than what we have here in Delhi. So we hope our visit won’t disappoint,” he adds.
Gurung also informs that the band will be in Kathmandu for a week, and will perform at different venues.
The organizers, Musicology, notify that the group is set to arrive in Kathmandu on Saturday and perform on the same day at House of Music, Thamel. After that, the band is set to perform on Tuesday, October 5 and Wednesday, October 6 at Moksh, Jhamsikhel and Lakhey on Durbar Marg respectively.
