Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the bank, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, expressed the hope that the bank would play an important role in reaching to rural masses of the country by investing into sectors like agriculture and infrastructure development and expanding its branches there.[break]
Similarly, Nepal Rastra Bank Governor, Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada, its high time that banks raised their operational efficiency and provided services to customers in low interest rates.
“Financial institutions should merge into bigger institutions for better management and increase their efficiency. This would reduce operational cost as well as make financial sector more efficient and also create space for the new banks,” Khatiwada said.
Officials of the bank stressed that the bank will be providing modern banking services and will also introduce the universal banking concept. For this, the bank will coordinate with various international agencies and invest in sectors such as renewable energy in rural sectors.
