Introducing Maha duo as its brand ambassador, Western Union said it is planning to reach to the local people of the rural parts of the country.
"Maha duo with their unmatched comic skill will help us deliver our message to the general public. We are also trying to make our service more approachable so that we can contribute to the society and economy by bringing the remittance circulation to the formal channel," said Cedris Dias, the Western Union´s director of marketing for South Asia.
The company has also been involved in different Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to help the society.
Of the total remittance flow to the country, only 20 percent comes through the formal channels. Western Union claims that it enjoys 18 percent of the international money transfer transactions through formal channels.
New Karbonn handsets hit market
KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Pashupati Trade Link has launched three high-end handsets of Karbonn Mobiles in the market.

JOCVs complete 40 years
KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCVs) have completed 40 years in Nepal.
JOCV program was started in 1965 with the objective of bringing about progressive change in grassroots level with local communities, Fungma Fudong, public relation officer of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), said. JOCV program is one of JICA´s technical cooperation schemes for developing countries.
Fudong informed that JICA has sent over 38,000 Japanese volunteers to more than 80 countries. Nepal is the 11th host country of this program.
“JOCVs have played an active role as development partners in Nepal´s socio-economic development process by contributing in the sectors like agriculture, fruit cultivation, vegetable production, community drinking water sector, forestry and so on,” JICA said in a statement on Friday.
More than 1,100 Japanese volunteers have already worked as JOCVs in Nepal.
Maha Kumbh expected to draw more devotees on Shivaratri
