Sahukhala registers from MMC

KATHMANDU, Aug 19: Nepal´s highest paid footballer Santosh Sahukhala registered his name at the All Nepal Football Association on behalf of Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) on Thursday.



Sahukhala, the highest scorer of last season´s Martyrs Memorial ´A´ Division League, had joined MMC last month along with other 16 footballers. He was adjudged the best forward for netting 19 goals.[break]

 

Sahukhala moved to MMC from Nabil Three Star Club (NTSC) securing a monthly salary of Rs 50,000.



ANFA has set the deadline of August 10 for the clubs to register their last month´s signings. Five players of MMC have registered their names at ANFA till Thursday.



MMC is the third club of Sahukhala who has crossed the landmark of 50 goals in the domestic league. He debuted from NTSC seven years ago. He played the league of 2005 for the Armed Police Force Club but returned to his former club later on. Himalayan Sherpa have also registered seven players besides MMC. 



Prime dominate Akhil TT



Prabin Sherpa and Pradip Rokka of Prime College on Thursday advanced into the men´s final of Akhik Cup Table Tennis Tournament winning their respective semifinal matches. Sherpa eased past Binesh Khaniya of his own college 11-2, 11-8, 11-5 in straight sets. Likewise, Rokka beat Sonu Gupta of Golden Gate 11-9, 12-14, 11-5, 11-9.



Rabina Maharjan and Asmita Shrestha of Prime College made it through to the women´s singles final. Maharjan ousted Mira Maharjan of Kist in straight sets 11-3, 11-2, 11-3 and Shrestha registered a comfortable 11-7, 11-3, 11-8 over Mina Adhikari of Columbus College. 



In mixed doubles semifinals, Pradip Rokka and Asmita Shrestha´s pair of Prime outplayed Dipak Shrestha and Rina Adhikari´s pair of Kantipur City College 11-2, 11-5, 11-8. Similarly, Prabin Sherpa and Rabina Maharjan´s pair of Prime College saw off Sounu Nepali and Rubi Bajracharya´s pair of Whitefield College 11-8, 11-9, 11-8 to book the final spot.  



Wilson hoops from Sunday



Wilson Academy will organize the 10th Wilson Inter-school Basketball Tournament (Wilson Hoops) at their basketball court Bafal, Kathmandu, from Sunday.



Altogether  57 teams from 37 schools, including 25 in senior boys, 12 each in junior boys´ and girls´ and eight in staff category, will participate in the 14-day long event, stated the organizers at a press meet on Thursday. The expected expenses of the tournament is Rs 250,000.



Basketball from Friday



Valley Public Higher Secondary School is organizing the fifth edition of Valley Public Inter-school Basketball Tournament from Friday at the school´s court Bhangal, Sundarbasti.



In total, 57 teams -- 35 in boys´ and 22 in girls´ section -- are participating in the tournament, according to the organizers. Both boys´ and girls´ team are divided into equal eight groups and top two finishers from each group will make it through to the pre-quarterfinal round.



Hosts Valley Public will be looking forward to lift the title for the third consecutive year. The estimated costs of the tournament is Rs 250,000.
