DHOBINI (PARSA), Aug 11: The entire Dhobini village in Parsa is mourning the death of four persons of the village, who had gone to Kashmir in search of work to feed their old parents and children, in landslides in Leh district in Jammu and kashmir state of India last Wednesday.

Manaya Prasad Kurmi of Dhobini-4 had gone to Kashmir to earn money for delivery of his wife Priyanka Devi but the unborn baby has lost its father even before seeing the world.[break]

There is even a possibility of the baby never seeing the world as the eight-month pregnant Priyanka Devi has not eaten properly ever since she heard of the tragic news. “Everyone in the family is crying. There is no one in a state to talk to her to eat something for the sake of the unborn child,” Manohar Ahmad, a neighbor, said.

The elderly parents are mourning the death of their son in one room while the 18-year-old is crying in the loss of her husband of three years in another. Manaya had promised to return for the birth of the first child while leaving for Kashmir three months ago.

The family of Mainuddin Ansari is also suffering the same fate. His wife is also a five-month pregnant, according to the family sources. “He had gone to earn money due to the poor financial condition of the family. But everything has been shattered now,” Mainuddin´s elder brother Kamaruddin rued.

The family of Rajesh Kurmi is also mourning along with his children. The Kurmi family has been devastated after the death of a son who had gone to earn some money to celebrate the upcoming Dashain and Tihar festivals. Kurmi has three children aged five, three and one.

Kurmi´s wife is getting unconscious time and again. “She gets unconscious. I cry by hugging the grandchildren,” his mother Kanti said. Kurmi had promised the children to return with sweets and clothes and they are yet to know of his death or even discern the loss. “They just look at our gloomy face and get sad,” Kanti added.

All three sons of Kanti have gone to Kashmir for employment. “The eldest son gave the news of second son´s death over phone and we could not speak more,” Kanti said. She revealed that the youngest son is returning soon. “The son who had gone to earn money is returning by borrowing money for tickets,” she revealed.

The family of Shesh Nath Kurmi is also in agony after the news of his death. Around thirty persons from this village alone and over 150 from the VDC have gone to Kashmir in search of work.
