KATHMANDU, April 22: From the very first day of nationwide lockdown, as many as 200 people are being served free meals every day at Bauddha, Kathmandu.
With the help of different organizations and individuals, locals of Bauddha have been providing free meals to laborers and other people hard-hit by lockdown, according to Chandrajit Moktan.
"We will continue this until the lockdown is over,” he said, adding that no labor will have to go hungry due to the situation.
Hiramaya Syangtan, a local, has a family of four. After the lockdown, she was forced to stay home as all the works have been shut. “Thanks to the free meal served here, I don’t have to worry about food,” she added.
Dilip Tamang also comes here every day with his brother. “We were in real trouble when we couldn’t go back to the village,” Tamang added.
According to Chandrajit, kind-hearted people stepped out and offered to volunteer during this crisis.
