KAILALI, Sept. 5: The Fisheries Development Center, Geta, the only such center in the Far-west and the Mid-west Development Regions, distributed nearly 15 million fingerlings to farmers last year.

The center distributed some 20 million fingerlings including hatchlings and fries to farmers in the two regions. It says the demand for fingerlings is growing in the regions in recent years with the increase in the number of fish farmers.

But the center is hard pressed in meeting the demand for fingerlings as the capacity of its hatchery is not big enough to produce the number of hatchlings as per the demand.

The center has been distributing hatchlings to farmers in Achham, Bajhang, Bajura, Doti, Dadeldhura, Baitadi and Darchula districts of the Far-west region and in Banke district of the Mid-west region.
