2 killed, 40 injured in bus accident

ARGAKHANCHI, Oct 7: Two people were killed and 40 more were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident in Sapdanda of Malarani Rural Municipality of Argakhanchi district on Friday.

ARGAKHANCHI, Oct 7: Two people were killed and 40 more were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident in Sapdanda of Malarani Rural Municipality of Argakhanchi district on Friday.

The bus (Lu 1 Kha 6518) heading toward Butwal from Dandakateri plunged some 100 meters from the road. The two died on the spot while many have sustained serious injuries. The deceased have been identified as nine years old Abhiyan Acharya of Khanadaha and Suntali BK, 35, of Dhurkot, Gulmi. It is said that the bus was carrying more passengers than its capacity. Reportedly, there were more than 70 passengers travelling in the bus while its capacity was 35 passengers. The locals and securiity personnel were involved in the rescue work.


The injured were immediately taken to the District Hospital in Sandhikharka. Those with critical condition have been brought to Kathmandu for further treatment. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the District Police Office, the accident was the result of narrow and dilapidated road and overload.
