2 abductors killed in police encounter in Birgunj

BIRGUNJ, Feb 4: Two of the kidnappers were killed in police encounter as police rescued an eight-year-old boy from the clutches of his abductors in Birgunj, on Monday morning.



Superintendent of police (SP) Pitambar Adhikari informed that a police team led by him raided the house of Ramnath Giri in Bhediyari-9 at 4 am, where the abductors were hiding, and two of the abductors were fatally injured in the ensuing cross fire. [break]



The duo succumbed to their injuries during course of medical treatment. Police identified the deceased as Sanjay Giri, 22, of Bhediyari and Bindeshwor of Harpur village. Two policemen, Surya Bahadur Tamang and Badha Bahadur Thapa, were also injured in the incident.



Sulok Agrawal was abducted from Adarshanagar, Birgunj nine days ago. Police have taken under control six others, including the victim’s distant uncle Kunal, in connection with the kidnapping.



Police believe Kunal is the mastermind behind the crime. The child was doing his schooling in India, and was kidnapped on the night of January 29 from Birgunj when he was there to attend a marriage ceremony .
