KATHMANDU, July 19: The total 2,870 structures destroyed during the Maoist decade-long insurgency have been reconstructed until 15 July 2016, said the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction.
The reconstructed structures belong to prisons, courts, parks, monuments, heritages, schools, VDCs and various government offices.
The reconstruction works started following the Comprehensive Peace Accord with the then rebel Maoists in 2006 under the commissioning of the ministry. The ministry said that around Rs 8.8 billion was spent in the reconstructions.
According to the ministry's data, a total of 8,916 structures were destroyed in the course of the conflict and it will cost additional around Rs 36.3 billion to complete the reconstruction of the remaining damaged structures. RSS
