Winning the toss, K and K chose to bat and garnered 115 runs for nine wickets in the 20-over match held at the Birendra Sainik Grounds, Bhaktapur and restricted Thames to 101 runs for eight wickets after playing all 20 overs. [break]
Man-of-the-series and best batsman-adjudged Kishan Raut hit 24 runs for K and K with a six and two fours facing 18 balls while Badri Paneru (22), Dipak Shilpakar (21) and Roshan Chaudhary (12) also contributed for the winning side. Eraj Shrestha and Sujay Lal Shrestha hauled two wickets each of K and K.
Dinesh Shrestha (21), Prakash Badu (18) and Sujay Lal Shrestha (11) contributed double figures for Thames. Man-of-the-final Saurav Regmi of K and K claimed three wickets to stop Thames from meeting their target.
The winners will host next year´s tournament.
Gyanubaba victorious
KATHMANDU, May 28: Defending champions Gyanubaba edged past Workers Martyrs Memorial Club (WMMC) 25-11, 25-11, 25-16 to earn three points during the Fifth Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Women´s Double League Volleyball Tournament on Friday.
Tops defeated Angels´ Heart 25-22, 25-16, 25-18 but lost to New Diamond 25-20, 25-17, 23-25, 25-20.
Unbeaten New Diamond have six points from two games while WMMC, Tops and Angels´ Heart are behind with five, four and two points, respectively.
