18 dead bodies recovered from Marshayngdi bus accident site (With Photos)

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The bodies of 18 people, who lost their lives in a bus accident that occurred in Anbu Khaireni, Tanahun district, this morning have been recovered. Police said that among 43 people, efforts are ongoing to rescue the other injured people.

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The bodies of 18 people, who lost their lives in a bus accident that occurred in Anbu Khaireni, Tanahun district, this morning have been recovered. Police said that among 43 people, efforts are ongoing to rescue the other injured people.


An Indian bus (UP 53 AFT 7623) en route to Kathmandu from Pokhara fell into the Marsyangdi River near Anbu Khaireni, Tanahun this morning. All the people on board the bus were Indian nationals.

Among the rescued people, 12 injured passengers were airlifted by an army helicopter (MI17) to Kathmandu and are undergoing treatment at the TU Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj while nine are undergoing treatment at a local hospital in Anbu Khaireni. The army chopper has gone back to Tanahun to airlift the remaining passengers.


According to police, out of the 43 people on board the bus, 39 were rescued from the accident site while four are still missing. According to the Armed Police Force (APF) sources, 14 people lost their lives on the spot. 


They arrived in Pokhara on August 21 from Gorakhpur, India and they stayed at Hotel Sports Nepal in Pokhara for two days. 


The bus met with an accident while returning to Kathmandu. Following the accident, teams of Nepal Police, APF and Nepali Army were deployed to the accident site and a rescue operation was started.
