Vaccine shortage hits children in Kanchanpur

KANCHANPUR, May 15: Children are deprived of medicines after the regular vaccines were in short supply in Health Posts of Kanchanpur since one month ago.



About 200 children were deprived of the DPT vaccines against whooping cough and tetanus. [break]



It is needed for children above one and half years of age three times a year, said Assistant Health Worker of the Pipaladi Health Post Basant Dhami.



He said the Public Health Office returned the earlier vaccine viles sent a few months back so as not to use them and no supply was made from the Regional Medical Store Dhangadhi.



BCG and other vaccines including for measles are also enough only for 15 days.



When contacted, a District Public Health Office employee on telephone said the vaccine viles will be supplied within two to three days.
