KATHMANDU, May 5: Nepal Army (NA) on Wednesday said its attention has been drawn over the false news sent to various media houses in the name of its brigades.

Issuing a press statement, Public Relations Directorate of NA said the news purportedly sent as memorandum via e-mail in the name of its various brigades does not bear any credibility as the letter is sent by someone anonymous. [break]

The statement added that the fifth and ninth brigades are not in Dipayal and Bhakunde Besi and that the NA does not have 13th and 17 brigades in its organizational structure as claimed in the letter.

The NA has urged people not to believe such fabricated news and reiterated that army is dedicated to its duties and responsibilities. It has assured people that army effectively remains within the organizational chain of command.

The anonymous letter sent to various media houses via e-mail had claimed that the lower rung army soldiers were not prepared to raise arms against people.
