KATHMANDU, May 4: Nepal Police on Tuesday has lodged a complaint at the National Human Right Commission and Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) raising concern over the attack on policemen at Gongabu on Monday evening.

Five policemen were injured at Gongabu in a clash that ensued after the police tried to rescue a biker who was being thrashed by the Maoists. At the same time, the Maoists had assaulted a constable Binod Adhikari for allegedly spying on them at Gonabu. [break]

"We have requested both the agencies to look into the case," said Deputy Inspector General Bigyan Raj Sharma, spokesman for Nepal Police.

According to the police, the Maoists had thrashed Adhikari just because he looked like a cop. He had serious head injuries and was rushed to the Neuro Hospital Bansabri last night.

"He is in a critical condition," said a senior police officer. "We wrote to the human rights bodies to draw their attention over human rights violations," Sharma added.
