KATHMANDU, March 13: The 17 central committee (CC) members of the Nepali Congress (NC) have submitted a memorandum to party President Sushil Koirala against the party’s decision to go for government headed by the sitting chief justice (CJ).

The memorandum with the objections from the 17 CC members was submitted by senior NC leader Gopal Man Shrestha at New Baneshwor where the party leaders are holding the parleys on formation of the CJ head government.[break]

The leaders have, however, agreed to form the CJ-led government if the CJ resigns from his post before assuming the prime ministerial post.

“The leaders who are involved in the parleys on formation of the chief justice-led government will be responsible for any consequences if the chief justice heads the government without resigning from the post,” the memorandum reads.

Those who objected to the proposal include influential and senior leaders like Shrestha, Kul Bahadur Gurung, Arjun Nar Singh KC and Purna Bahadur Khadka, among others.
