17 more test positive for COVID-19 in Kathmandu valley

KATHMANDU, July 1: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) reported 17 more cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, July 1: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) reported 17 more cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday.  



Of the 17 newly infected, 10 cases are reported from Kathmandu, five from Lalitpur  and  two other cases from Bhaktapur district.

According to MoHP Spokesperson Jageshwar Gautam, nine females and eight males tested positive for the virus in Kathmandu Valley. Their swabs were tested positive for the COVID-19 during the test conducted at the Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Kathmandu and Patan Hospital in Lalitpur.  


A total of 10 cases were reported in the valley on Tuesday. The number of COVID-19 cases in Kathmandu Valley has increased sharply in the past few days. This is attributed to the increasing number of people returning to Kathmandu Valley for work as lockdown measures have been relaxed since June 15. 


Meanwhile, a total of 482 new COVID-19 cases have been reported throughout the country in the last 24 hours. As of Wednesday afternoon, Nepal has reported 14,046 COVID-19 cases, with 30 deaths.


Likewise, a total of 4,656 COVID-19 patients have been discharged after recovery from various health facilities across the country.
