KATHMANDU, Jan 30: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police on Monday arrested 17 foreign doctors and three hospital operators from various hospitals in the capital on the charge of working without permission.

Acting on a tip-off by the Nepal Medical Council (NMC), the illegitimate medical practitioners were arrested, according to CIB chief DIG Pushkar Karki. As per the existing laws of Nepal, foreign doctors have to mandatorily take permission from the NMC to work here.

CIB said it has lately focused its operation on issues concerning consumers rights and public interest.
