TEHRAN, Aug 30: The 16th summit conference of the non aligned countries began here amid a grand function on Thursday.
The summit conference that kicked off with playing of Iran´s national anthem at the International Conference Centre in Tehran, the capital of Iran, has been participated in by more than 100 representatives of the world´s non aligned countries. The summit started at 12:00 noon local time.[break]
Inaugurating the conference, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini while emphasizing on development of global brotherhood, said using force should be stopped against any country. Khomeini said he was happy to host the summit conference of non- aligned countries, which is an important movement, in his country, and expressed the confidence that there will be universal brotherhood and peace will prevail in the world.
Participating in the inaugural session of the conference from Nepal are five persons including Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, Deputy Prime Minister Narayankaji Shrestha and Foreign Secretary Durga Prasad Bhararai, among others.
