CHITWAN, Nov 26: In the last four months, 167 cases of domestic violence have been registered in Chitwan alone. This number of applications have been registered in the women's cell of District Police Office Chitwan by mid-November of the current fiscal year. Among the registered applications, 45 are related to deprivation of food, 70 are related to beating and 52 are related to abusive language.
Of the total petitions, 128 have been resolved. In addition, 22 have gone to the court while 17 are under consideration, said Bijayraj Pandit, the spokesperson for the district police office. According to him, 443 complaints of domestic violence were registered in the fiscal year 2078/79. In the fiscal year 2079/80, this number was 395. He said that most of the complaints were about beatings.
Similarly, according to the statistics maintained by the district police, 16 rape complaints have been registered till mid-November of the current year. Similarly, two complaints related to forced labor, 13 related to child sexual abuse, one related to unnatural sex, four related to polygamy and one related to child marriage have been registered.
