According to an aide to the PM, he consulted nearly two dozen legal experts at his office at Singha Durbar Thursday about a possible constitutional solution after May 28. [break]
"The PM focused his questions on legal steps to be taken after May 28, one of the participants said, adding, "But he seems confused after hearing different opinions and suggestions from various lawyers who attended the meeting."
According to a source, some experts advised the PM to start work on amending the interim constitution while some others suggested forming a committee to address the possible consequences after May 28.
Some lawyers close to the Maoists were also invited to the consultations. Attorney General Bharat Bahadur Karki and Acting Deputy Attorney General Pushpa Raj Koirala were present at the consultations.
Similarly, Nepal Bar Association Chairman Prem Bahadur Khadka, General Secretary Bijaya Mishra and legal experts Hari Uprety, Madhav Basnet, Tikaram Bhattarai, Bhimarjun Acharya, Purna Man Shakya, Mukti Pradhan, Satish Krishna Kharel, Basanta Ram Bhandari, Harihar Dahal, Kumar Regmi, Sindhu Nath Pyakurel, Govinda Bandi, Sarbagya Ratna Tuladhar, Hari Krishna Karki and Hari Phuyal were also present at the meeting.
