BIRATNAGAR, Oct 29: As many as 16 individuals lost their lives in vehicle accidents during the Dashain festival in Koshi Province.
According to the Nepal Police Highway Security and Traffic Management Office in Itahari, between October 22 and October 28, a total of 135 vehicles met with accidents, resulting in the unfortunate loss of 16 lives. These accidents left 265 people injured, with 41 individuals sustaining serious injuries.

During Dashain, the police took action against 6,628 vehicles. As a result, Rs 4.4 million was collected in fines.
In the fiscal year 2022/23, traffic police recorded 180 accidents involving vehicles in the Koshi Province. These accidents resulted in 16 fatalities and 226 individuals suffering minor injuries.
