MAHENDRANAGAR, March 25: Journalists based in Kanchanpur district have demanded that the local administration make public the whereabouts of Prakash Thakuri, a journalist who was abducted by Young Communist League (YCL) cadres two years ago.

The journalists took out a silent rally at Mahendranagar bazaar on Thursday demanding Thakuri´s whereabouts and protesting police action against journalists in Janakpur. The journalists also picketed the Kanchanpur District Administration Office and condemned attacks against journalists.

The YCL members involved in the abduction of Thakuri are walking openly at Mahendranagar bazaar. Thakuri´s wife Janaki ferries goods from Banbasa to the local market to earn her livelihood. Janaki has two sons.
