Shrestha named next chief justice

KATHMANDU, March 16: The Constitutional Council has named Ram Prasad Shrestha, seniormost justice at the Supreme Court, as the next chief justice of the country, our correspondent Bimal Gautam reported.



Shrestha will replace outgoing CJ Anup Raj Sharma who is retiring in nine days.



In a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office at Singha Durbar, the CC decided in favor of Shrestha from among the names recommended by the Judicial Council.
