“We thought he might have gone somewhere and would return,” said Sah´s mother Ramsunardevi. “However, he didn´t, and couldn´t be located even after we contacted all our relatives. On Monday evening, we informed the police that he might have been kidnapped,” she said.
Police have started searching for him since Monday night.
Police had detained Ramesh Thapa and Ramsakal Thakur on suspicion of their involvement in kidnapping Umesh, but released Thakur after interrogation Monday night. Thapa was released Tuesday afternoon following pressure from villagers, said Inspector Basudev Pathak.
Thapa was arrested as he had threatened Sah´s father Garbhu Sah, following a minor dispute, that his son might be abducted. According to police, Sah and Thapa have an old dispute over land deals.
