​​15 women arrested from Thamel area for their alleged involvement in immoral activities

KATHMANDU, June 1: The Police have detained 15 women, both local and foreign, on charges of engaging in immoral activities in public places.

They were arrested by the police from Thamel, a major tourist area located in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26 on Thursday night.

According to the police, among those arrested are six Nepali citizens, eight women originally from Uganda and living in Kathmandu and one from Kenya.

Superintendent of Police of District Police Range, Kathmandu, Nabraj Adhikari said that they were arrested on the charges of misbehaving, harassing foreign and domestic tourists and engaging in immoral activities in public places at night.

According to him, police conducted a special operation targeting these activities. He said that during the same operation, the police team deployed from Lainchaur Police Circle arrested them at around 12 o'clock on Thursday night.

According to police, a case has been registered against the arrested people on charge of their involvement in indecent activities from the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, and the necessary investigation work is being carried out by taking a five-day remand.
