15-day exhibition to revive art sector after pandemic

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Pagoda Group has started a 15-day art exhibition with the support from Sushil Koirala Memorial Foundation to revive the art sector in the post-COVID-19 period.

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Pagoda Group has started a 15-day art exhibition with the support from Sushil Koirala Memorial Foundation to revive the art sector in the post-COVID-19 period.


At the exhibition that started on Thursday at Kundalini in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-1, Bakhundol, 18 works of art by 14 artists are on display. The exhibition features paintings by Gopal Kalapremi, Sushma Rajbhandari, Raju Pithakote, Saroj Bajracharya, Kishor Nakarmi, Bikas Shakya, Roshan Pradhan, Pasang Vikram Lama, Ajay Desar, Bipana Maharjan, Mala Shrestha, Pradyumna Shrestha, Kanchakaji Bhashima and Rudra Bahadur Pun.

Inaugurating the exhibition, Engineer Atul Koirala, member-secretary of the Foundation, said that as Nepal's art and culture are being eroded, art should be given priority in the curriculum from the secondary level.


Similarly, Sushma Rajbhandari, head of the painting department of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) said that a curriculum on painting for grade 1 to 10 is being developed to attract children to painting. She also said that a campaign ‘One house, one painting’ is on the way.
