KATHMANDU, Nov 30: The 14th Nepal Festival, hosted jointly by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Japan, the Embassy of Nepal in Tokyo and the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities Japan, began in Tokyo today with the main slogan ‘Identity of Nepal and Nepalis in Japan, Promotion of tourism in Nepal through 14th Nepal Festival’.
The two-day festival is being held at Nakano Shikinomori Park in Tokyo. It aims at introducing Nepal’s art and culture to the world and lend Nepalis in the diaspora a sense of belongingness.

NRNA Japan has stated the festival this year is also focused on raising funds for the construction of a multicultural center called Nepali House, reflecting the identity of Nepal and Nepalis in Japan. The festival will feature fundraising campaigns, food stalls, volunteer teams, and showcasing of various ethnic costumes, art and culture, and Nepali cultural talents, said NRNA Japan President and Festival Main Organizing Committee Coordinator Nabin Niure.
“A total of 40 stalls have been set up at the festival,” NRNA Japan Spokesperson Khagaraj Gautam said. Moreover, documentaries and photo exhibitions covering Nepali original art and culture, social customs, tourist sites, etc. will be screened during the festival.
The NRNA Japan has been organizing this festival in Japan since 2012.
