BIRATNAGAR, Oct 4: The fourth session of the Koshi Provincial Assembly is starting today. On the recommendation of the provincial government, the Province chief Parshuram Khapung called the session from 1PM today.
According to Article 168 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal, Hikmat Kumar Karki, who is the Chief Minister (CM), has called a session for the purpose of taking a vote of confidence on September 8 following a Supreme Court order for the same.
He has prepared to take the vote of confidence on October 7. It will be 30 days since the Chief Minister was appointed on October 7.
CPN-UML Koshi Province Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Rewati Raman Bhandari said that they are ready to take the vote of confidence on October 7. In today's meeting, the ordinance brought by the government on September 10 will be tabled.
If CM Karki does not get a vote of confidence, he will automatically be relieved of his post and the process of new government formation will begin, according to Article 168 (5) of the Constitution.
