KATHMANDU, March 10: Although the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) has decided to nominate Ranjita Shrestha, the chairperson of the party, as the vice presidential candidate, she is seen as unfit to be a vice presidential candidate.
Chief whip of the party, Ganga Ram Chaudhary said that they were not aware of the constitutional provisions and will discuss the option again within the party.
Only on Friday morning, NUP decided to make Shrestha a vice presidential candidate.
According to the Constitution of Nepal 2072, a candidate for country’s president and vice president must be at least 45 years of age.
The registration of candidature for the post of vice president is taking place on Saturday (tomorrow).
