KATHMANDU, August 15: CPN (Unified Socialist) Dhunibesi-1 Ward Coordinator Bhishan Dhital has said that none of the agreements reached with them have been implemented and hence, they will not let garbage to be thrown at Banchare Danda until their demands are met.
He said that he started the protest because the garbage falling from the garbage trucks have made the roads and surroundings unlivable.
Dhital said that there has been no hearing from the metropolis so far and the protest will continue until the demand is met. “We are in a peaceful protest. We are not in favor of a confrontational approach. We have not heard from the metropolis and we will continue to protest until the demand is met. Our movement will remain peaceful," he said.
The ruling party has blocked the vehicles going to Banchare Danda landfill site from 6AM today at Dhunibesi-1. Despite the agreement made several times, they have blocked the dumping saying that the waste disposal should be stopped forever. Workers of the Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN (United Socialist) have blocked the garbage disposal saying it had an adverse effect on them, making the life of local residents very difficult and local residents are suffering from various chronic diseases and adverse effects on human health.
