MORANG, Sept 2: A 13-year-old girl has given birth to a son at Nobel Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar. Morang Police Spokesperson DSP Ranjan Kumar Dahal said that the girl's parents took her to the hospital for treatment on Tuesday. During the treatment, it was found that the girl was pregnant.
The girl, who allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old boy, gave birth to a healthy son on Wednesday morning. It is said that she underwent a 'normal delivery'.
DSP Dahal said that the newborn weighed 2.7 kilograms, He added, "From the preliminary investigation, it has been revealed that there was sexual intercourse between the two minors last December. We have started investigating the incident by keeping the newborn under the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.”
DSP Dahal said that the court extended the remand after parents of the girl filed a rape case against the boy. Although they had consensual sexual intercourse, the law considers it rape as the age of the girl is below 18.
DSP Dahal quoting the parents, who found out that the girl's menstruation had stopped for a long time, said that they learnt that the girl was pregnant only after she was taken to the hospital with a sudden stomach ache.
