Biratnagar, June 22: The Biratnagar Customs Office has collected Rs 37 billion in revenues in the past 11 months. According to the customs office, in the current fiscal year, the office has collected Rs 37.5 billion in revenues in 11 months.
According to the customs office, it has managed to collect only 82.55 percent of the revenue target in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year. The Biratnagar Customs Office has collected about Rs 8 billion less revenue than the target of Rs 45.38 billion for the 11 months of the current fiscal year.
The Biratnagar customs office has not been able to collect the targeted amount since mid-July. In recent months, the government’s policy of tightening imports has also affected the revenues. According to the office's records, 96.56 percent of the targeted revenue was collected in July whereas only 74.24 percent of the target was collected in May.
Similarly, the Biratnagar Customs Office has collected only Rs 3.34 billion out of the target of Rs 3.46 billion in July of the current fiscal year. In August, the revenue collection target was set at Rs. 4.1 billion, of which Rs. 3.86 billion was collected. Out of the target of Rs 4.94 billion in September, only Rs 3.79 billion has been collected.
Comparing the 11 months of the current fiscal year and 11 months of last fiscal year, the Biratnagar customs has managed to increase the revenue collection by Rs 380 million. In 11 months of the last fiscal year, the office had collected a revenue of Rs 37.95 billion.
