126,000 pregnant affected with earthquake: UNFPA

KATHMANDU, May 3: The UNFPA has estimated that 126,000 pregnant women were affected in the recent earthquake in Nepal.

Issuing a press release on Saturday, the UNFPA said two million girls of reproductive age were also affected in the disaster.


The women and girls are considered fragile in the natural disaster as the earthquake. During the natural disaster, deaths relating to pregnancy and women violence are up.

In Nepal, huge number of women has been deprived of reproductive health service for the disaster. Delivery is conducted without meeting minimum service.

The UNFPA has been providing materials related to reproductive health service to the women in the districts hit hard with the quake. RSS
