KATHMANDU, Feb 28: The main opposition party CPN UML said that the interpretative declaration on the MCC agreement between the government of Nepal and the USA won't have any meaning.
The US-aid grant agreement was ratified by the House of Representatives (HoR) on Sunday evening. Emerging from the HoR meeting, UML leader Khagaraj Adhikari commented that the interpretative declarations were just the tools prepared by the ruling coalition to save its position.
Minister for Finance Janardan Sharma had tabled the proposal on MCC compact with interpretative declaration seeking endorsement. UML, on the other hand, continued its protest, stating that its demand to take action against its 14 expelled lawmakers was not implemented.
