SINDHULI, Nov 12: Members of National Youth Federation Nepal and All Nepal National Free Students' Union (ANNFSU), Sindhuli Chapter burned an effigy of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to protest against the recent decision of the government to hike the prices of petroleum products.
The agitating youths burnt the effigy at Shantinagar Chowk of Kamalamai Municipality-6 along the B.P Highway and chanted strong slogans against the government over its recent decision to hike the prices of petroleum products.
Dev Raj Waiba, a representative of the National Youth Federation, said that instead of working to improve the living standards of people and bringing development to the country, the government had increased prices of various goods. He argued that the hike in the prices of petroleum products had an adverse impact on the lives of ordinary people.
"If the government does not withdraw the decision to hike the prices of petroleum products, we will continue with our protests," he said, adding that the government should withdraw its decision to hike prices of consumer goods like petroleum products.
