KHOTANG, April 26: Twelve teachers in Khotang have resigned from their jobs to contest in the upcoming local elections.
While the 12 have already resigned, many others are preparing to quit their jobs to contest the elections, according to officials. Those who have quit their jobs have already secured election tickets from various political parties.
Over a dozen school teachers resign to contest local polls
According to District Education Office (DEO), Khotang about 12 teachers submitted their resignation till April 16. Rajan Prasad Dhakal, the chief of Simpani Campus, Simpani is among those who have resigned. Likewise, teachers Bishwanath Niraula of Makpa Secondary School, Makpa; Keshav Raj Karki of Saraswati Primary School, Dandakharka Chitapokhari; Basanta Rai of Janata Secondary School, Batase; Bimal Khadka of Panchakanya Adharbhut School; Hari Kumar Rai of Saraswati Primary School, Pauwasera; Rajesh Kumar Bhandari of Hira Primary School, Maheshwari; Khagendra Bahadur Basnet of Rastriya Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Baspani; Rohit Rai of Pratibha Primary School; Yagya Narayan Shrestha of Sharada Secondary School; Kalika Prasad Rijal of Chandra Primary School, Simkharka, Sundel; and Dhak Bahadur Karki of Dandakharka Primary School of Barahapokhari have already submitted their resignations.
However, their resignations have yet to be accepted by the DEO. The teachers in their resignations have cited personal reasons for the resignations. Dhakal, who has resigned from the post of principal of Simpani Campus is contesting for mayor of Khotehang Rural Municipality in CPN (Maoist Center) ticket. Similarly, Niraula of Makpa Secondary School will be contesting the elections from Aiselukharka in Nepali Congress ticket.
The teachers have already started their election campaign in their constituencies.
