DHARAN, Aug 10: Twelve more people including two staff nurses at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Thursday.
According to the BPKIHS administration, four of them are medics - two nurses, one helper at the surgery unit and a person from the lab. They underwent the lab tests in the course of contact tracing following the confirmation of COVID-19 infection in a lab staff who had returned to work from Saptari’s Rajbiraj, according to Dr Nidesh Sapkota, the spokesperson for the hospital. A son and a daughter of that staff were found infected.
Similarly, a patient who has been receiving treatment at the isolated ward in the emergency section and another at the gyno ward were also diagnosed with this viral infection, Dr Sapota added.
The hospital had also extracted the swab samples of seven hospital attendants. Of them, four from Province 2 have contracted the virus. They will be sent to isolation wards in their province in coordination with their respective local units, said an official at the Dharan Sub-metropolis.
