KATHMANDU, July 16: COVID-19 infection has been confirmed among children in a village of Parbat. As many as 12 children have been infected with COVID-19 in Chuwa of Kushma Municipality-8.
In the last one week, 12 children have been infected in Chuwa at a time when the number of children infected in the district was going down the chart.

According to Ward Chair Raj Kumar Chhetri, children belonging to 13 months to 11 years of age have been infected. He said that the infection was confirmed in the test done after they showed symptoms of cold and fever.
He said that new variant was suspected as the children started getting infected rapidly. Researchers had projected that the third wave would affect children. Although the incident was described as a sign of a third wave, the Gandaki Health Directorate has been requested to test the variant, said Ward Chairman Chhetri.
In Chuwa, there are 42 active cases consisting of people of different ages, including children. The ward has conducted direct monitoring of health workers and has operated an isolation center with oxygen. Free treatment, medicine and oximeters are being distributed to the infected.
