12 'child laborers' rescued in Ilam

ILAM, Jan 22: A group of human rights activists in coordination with local administration rescued 12 children working at various hotels and shops in Fikkal of Ilam on Tuesday afternoon.



Those rescued are aged between 10-16 with five even admitted to local schools. [break]



They were found either not paid or working for a meager salary amount, the inspection team that comprised Chief District Officer too said.



“Many children come to us searching jobs while others are brought here by their parents who take away the salary,” a local shop owner said.



The rescued children hail from Dhankuta, Dhulabari (Jhapa), Bahundangi (Bhojpur), Udaypur and Jalpaigudi of India, among others.
