Prohibitory order relaxed from today; no odd-even rule for vehicles

KATHMANDU, July 6: The prohibitory orders which were imposed in the Kathmandu Valley late April this year and were eased gradually have been further relaxed from today. 

As per the new orders, the odd-even rule for vehicles has been lifted and all types of vehicles will be allowed to operate from today. The new order imposed from 1 AM today will remain in force till midnight of July 15.

According to Kathmandu Chief District Officer Kali Prasad Parajuli, drivers are advised not to carry more passengers than their seat capacity, follow all health standards and use visors and gloves. Sanitizers should be provided at the door of the vehicle and the vehicle should be disinfected and passengers without masks should not be allowed to board the vehicle.

With the permission of the local administration, vehicles from outside the Valley can also enter for special work. According to the order, most businesses are allowed to open till 6 PM avoiding congestion. All kinds of crowded activities including gatherings, conferences, cinema halls, hotels, party palaces and other places have been banned. Similarly, weddings in party palaces, mass ceremonies including fasting, all religious programs except daily worship, and teaching and learning in physical presence will not be allowed.

Online 'orders' of essential items, takeaways and home delivery of restaurant and fast food and other orders will be available till 7 PM.

Three-wheelers and microbuses have been asked to have only four passengers each in the back horizontal seat and one in the driver's seat. A plastic barrier should be installed in the middle of the vehicle to separate the passengers on both sides. Vehicles for public and private construction will have to operate from 9 PM to 5 AM.

All types of written and practical examinations can be conducted by following the predetermined health protocols. While conducting the examination, more than 25 people have been barred from gathering on the basis of hall and room. The order states that no more than 25 people can participate in programs such as seminars, conferences, meetings and training.
