KATHMANDU, May 29: Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel is presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2021/22.
As the federal parliament was dissolved on May 22, the government is presenting this year’s annual budget through an ordinance. Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel is presenting the budget live from the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.
According to officials at the Ministry of Finance, Finance Minister Poudel has included some election-centered programs in the budget. Poudel has also increased social security allowance at the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari, at the recommendation of Cabinet, has already promulgated three ordinances earlier on Saturday afternoon. The ordinances include Appropriation Ordinance 2021, Finance Ordinance 2021 and National Debt Ordinance 2021 as per Article 114 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal.
