COVID-19 Vaccination Drive

KATHMANDU, Sept 20: The government has announced a fresh vaccination campaign to administer the Vero Cell vaccine to people across the country. The four million doses of COVID-19 vaccines purchased from China are being administered to people across the country.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the first dose will be made available in target districts between September 20 and September 30, followed by the second dose scheduled for October 21 to October 31.
In districts like Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Rasuwa, Jumla, Mugu, Humla, Dolpa, Bajura and Darchula, all citizens aged 18 years old and above will be vaccinated whereas people above 35 years old and students aged 18 years old who missed the vaccine earlier will be vaccinated in the districts including Kavre and Chitwan.
The MoHP has designated districts including Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Makwanpur, Ramechhap, Sarlahi and Achham for the vaccination of people aged 40 years and above. The students aged 18 years or above who missed vaccines earlier are also eligible for the vaccination in these districts.
People aged 45 years and older who are yet to be vaccinated and students aged 18 years and above from 55 districts except Manang, Mustang and Rukum East are eligible for the vaccination during this campaign.
During the campaign, frontliners, essential service workers, teachers, hotel entrepreneurs including their employees, among others, will also be vaccinated, the MoHP stated. People are requested to bring identity cards that discloses their age and occupation. If one does not hold such documents, they can bring recommendations from the local level.
